This is a compilation of my work as an Associate Designer at the Urban Conga where I have assisted in the design and development of playful, community-centered public installations along with developing participatory community engagement strategies that center inclusivity, equity, and play in the design of public spaces.
"Common Corner" at NYCHA's Morris Houses
Developed with the Morris Houses community, Common Corner transforms an underutilized set of concrete bleachers into a flexible gathering space for connection and activity. New seating elements and playful interventions build upon the existing structure, while words of affirmation gathered through community engagement are integrated throughout the space to celebrate and uplift residents. The project was recognized with the 2026 NYCxDESIGN Award for Greater Good.
My Role: Developed engagement materials and led community sessions; contributed to design development and the design and placement of words of affirmation; supported mural painting and on-site installation
“Revolving Voices” at NYCHA’s Astoria Houses
Developed in collaboration with Artist-in-Residence Tamra Cosby and the Astoria Houses community, “Revolving Voices” draws inspiration from the megaphone as a symbol of amplifying voices. Four large-scale, octagonal structures create a sculptural and playable landscape for gathering, climbing, sitting, and exploring. Perforated imagery depicts the people, talents, and stories of the community, while the interiors feature messages, memories, and poetry gathered through the engagement process. Each component can be manually rotated, reshaping the installation and framing new views of Astoria, the waterfront, and the community.
My Role: Developed engagement materials and led community sessions; contributed to design development, perforated imagery, and text placement on the structures; supported on-site installation
“Marlboro Playscape” at NYCHA’s Marlboro Houses
Developed with the Marlboro Houses community, the project transforms underutilized green spaces into vibrant places for play, gathering, and community activity. Through a community-led design process, residents shared their memories, experiences, and visions for the spaces, informing playful structures, flexible seating, and opportunities for recreation and social connection. Sensory elements and a series of playful animal characters guide visitors through the space, creating moments of discovery and encouraging exploration, interaction, and imaginative play. The design incorporates tactile and visual experiences to create opportunities for engagement across ages and abilities.
My Role: Developed engagement materials and led community sessions; contributed to design development; developed the sensory elements and animal characters; designed the perforated imagery, supported on-site installation
